It’s Christmas time again and my favorite time of the year! For many, many years I have been collecting decorations and have take to collecting them from all over the world. My latest addition is from Rajasthan, interestingly they don’t celebrate Christmas in that state but do make decorations. We went to a shop that sold amazing stuffed decorations but not sparkly and all hand made. This year we also had additions to our Patience Brewster collection of Dashaway Reindeer and Santa on his sleigh. Also our continuing addition of lighting to the house is an ongoing endeavor! It’s been a fantastic year here at the Lodge so from all of us we wish you a safe and wonderful Christmas and wonderful 2017!...

As some would know, Tony and I have been in India for a month and whilst we were away we had some work done to make our guests even happier. A few days ago some of our purchases arrived including silk rugs and a Hermes cover for our piano. A fantastic trip but good to be...

The Sunday before last our burn pile was earmarked for lighting. We have cleared so many trees and growth from the property that I am vague as to how many times we have lit it this year. This time was quite funny because Tony had mentioned that he was going to light it but I ignored him and laid down for a nap, 40 minutes later I couldn’t sleep and went down to the western field only to find one last small branch still smouldering, so funny it burnt in no...

On Sunday Tony and I and 2 close friends took some time to visit “Lilly ponds” at Burringbar. It is truly a piece of Gods paradise and would urge anyone who has the opportunity to visit the garden not to miss it’s beauty and extraordinary solitude. basically Lilly ponds is 5 naturally occurring ponds on this large private property which have been developed in beautiful and natural gardens including Kangaroo paw walks and mondo grass growing purposely but wildly among stone paths. Parts of this garden are breathtaking and a pure joy. I hope you enjoy these...

The last weekend in July saw Queensland Cycling come to Stokers Siding. It was a pretty exciting day and generally the community rallied to create a wonderful atmosphere. I spend most of the day at the Start/Finish line which was at the Stokers Hall working in the kitchen with other volunteers. If you go to the Stokers Hall page on Facebook you can see many photos of us but Tony captured these great shots out the front of the lodge. There were about 300 riders in all if memory serves me and they were spread over quite a field. I have never experienced a cycle race up close and really enjoyed it. The police were in full swing controlling crowds and traffic, it was very much like the tour-d-France, enjoy!!...

I was pretty amazed to find these mushrooms while walking in the western field. The reason is that they are so large and tall! I’m sure they are poisonous and the little gold spots on top are a bit of a giveaway, still they are quite lovely! Enjoying nature at Stokers...
